The upgraded Rockford ICE system was functioning well. Sound quality was decent. However, my children were complaining about the “boom, boom, boom” at the rear coming from the subwoofer. Truely, the rear was like a disco pub. It rocked my butt off!
Went to Audioedge and did the following:
- Moved my amp from the boot to underneath the front passenger seat for more boot space.
- Removed my subwoofer (Another crazy move since the tyre saga if you had read my earlier post)
The result was a sound system with little bass. Anyway, I listen to sentimentals, so it was not a problem. My kids also found it more comfortable to sit at the rear.

Was very happy with the look after upgrading to the 17″ SSW007 wheels. But the happiness did not last. The wheels were noisy. I prefer comfort to performance.
It was not too difficult to find a set of stock wheels from Yap Brothers. Another crazy nut had just upgraded his wheels. I rushed to Yap Brothers with no hesitation. Reverted back to stock.
Needless to say, I burned a big hole in my pocket. Chinese called it ”itchy backside”. Though I regretted, the consolation was that the noise subsided an acceptable level.

Received an notification from the Land Transport Authority that my bid for license plate number 811 was successful. Made a new set of plates and installed on my baby.

I am no music fanatic but the Civic’s sound system was a torture to my ears. It sounded like a 2nd world war radio.
After some sourcing, I decided to install a Rockford system below S$1K. The stock head unit was retained for good look. Following components were added:
- An amp
- A subwoofer
- A pair of Rockford speakers for the front
- Upgraded rear speakers
Installer was Audioedge. Job was professionally done. Sound quality was good but the bass from the subwoofer at the rear was a little too heavy as I love sentimentals.

Was influenced or “poisoned” by those fellow forums at civicfd-sg.com. I phoned almost every tyre shop enquiring about tyres and rims.
Ended up with the below choice:

Settled with the 2nd rim. I did not get the original (Prodive) but a cheaper Taiwan replica (SSW 007). Wrapped it with a set of quiet rubber, Yokohama DB501. Installation done at Poh Heng.
Aesthetically, my baby looked gorgeous with the new wheels. However, they were noisy. I regretted.

Heard that Honda Service Centre at Mandai was one of the better ones. No long queue, no fuzz. So, headed to Mandai despite 45 minutes drive from my home.
Got my servicing done within 45 minutes. Staff service quality was acceptable. Instructed them not to wash my baby but they did.
There was a TV at the lobby with boring CNN news. Would be better if free wifi is provided.

My Civic was registered with a 3-digit license plate “743″. Didn’t want to have “4″. In Cantonese, it means “die”. So, I submitted my bid for a new plate “811″.
Why “811″?
- It is my birthday.
- 8 + 1 + 1 = 10. “10″ in Chinese represents “full” or “perfect” or ”best”.
- “8″ is “fatt” or “prosperous” in Cantonese. “1″ sounds like “day”. “811″ together is “properous everyday”.

Found out that it was possible to install a key hole light; an useful feature not included in the Civic. Went to a DIY meet-up at East Coast. Guided by KelvinW (forumer selling the keyhole light), the keyhole light was installed.

Received call from my Salesman three days ago. Went to Kah Motor and collected my Civic. The long wait was finally over. I got my baby.

Received a call from my Salesman. My Civic arrived. He was in the process of finishing the registration papers with the transport authority. He would also be sending my new baby for window tinting, under-carriage rustproofing and fixing up the reverse sensors. My Civic should be ready in a couple of days.
Couldn’t wait anymore.
